I have been using Photoshop for years - PS 3.0 Now I have a great new computer custom made especially for all Adobe applications. Every thing worked great until a couple of weeks ago. Now Photoshop is acting very strange. I will open a picture (.psd, .jpg, etc.) in Photoshop. The picture I see is BAD. I had tried everything to get it to work - including using the photoshop help where you have to pay for live help. Trying different things, I decided to open the same pictures in different applications - wonder of wonders - the picture looks perfect in Illustrator, a word document, even when I printed the picture from Photoshop. The problem is what I see on the screen when I am using Photoshop only. Does anyone have any ideas? I wish I could send an original, a screenshot, and the picture in a word document so you could see what I am talking about. I am ready to pull my hair out. |

I didn't include that I am now using Photoshop 6.0.1. I hope someone out there can give me some help.

how does it look "bad"? be a little more descriptive so your problem can be narrowed down.

Are you still using Photoshop 3? I can only offer advice about more current versions. Use the Adobe Gamma utility to create a new monitor profile. I'll bet a pre-dunked doughnut this will fix it. http://www.adobe.com:80/support/salesdocs/f03e.htm |

I have tried the Adobe Gamma wizard suggested by Utopian23, it didn't work.

What is the zoom level you are using? I know if you look at an image that is not 1/2 or a 1/4 of 100% it can look funky, esp. at higher than 100% zoom.

It isn't the zoom level. It is something inside Photoshop itself, or within the computer. The pictures look good when they are in other applications and when they are printed.

Can you try a screen shot? and see if it looks bad in IE or whatever browser you are using so that we can see what you are talking about?
