hello all.

it seems that when i do a screen grab of my desktop and paste it into a new window the display is giving me a radically different color than what it actually is. the color is set back to what it should be when i do a save for web. i have tried color setting etc. but to no avail. please help.

i am running xp, ps7...

any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

:D

uhhh... anyone? Is this an XP thing? I do screen grabs all day on WIN 2000 with PS 7 and they're fine. I don't know jack about XP, however.

There is a rad utility (yes its rad hehe!) by a group of kind souls who make awesome (and awesome!) little programs for us all to use freely -
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/capture.htm

Its a great program you can designate a folder and bind a quick key. Just hit that key and you have a screen shot. No need to open PS and paste before doing another screenshot.

thanks much guys...i'll definitely check out that link...

such a wierd display problem, i'm not sure what to do about it. it doesn't convert the color, but it's a real pain.

hopefully that prog will help, but it's easier to be able to PrintScreen > Ctrl + n > Ctrl + v sometimes...

argh.

thnx anyways

I don't know for a fact that this is your problem, but try setting up the adobe gamma settings (in your control panel) and check the proof settings in the window menu and your preferances.

The proof settings are so you can see what colours will look like in diferent conditions (I think), yours may be set for something that you don't need.

Is your Gfx Card old? Could be going bad?

no actually i just got a brand new p4 from dell at work so it's got a 32 mb rage ati adapter in it, but now the problem's gotten wierder...it's not even doing it consistently. sometimes the color's off, sometimes it's right on the mark.

still searching for an answer; haven't found one yet.

thanks for all the tips though, everyone.

Can you at least swap the card out with another you know that works? When a grafix card goes bad it does really quirky things for a while before it just goes blank.

Might be worth a shot?
