I dont think the resolution really has anything to do with the life of the monitor. The quality and how much you use it, like marble said will effect it.

Perhaps this thought sprang from the association of resolution with refresh rates on monitors. Some monitors only cater for a lowly resolution of 60mhz, others 85mhz and above. Graphic cards and and software are also in the equasion. To the best of my knowledge, Windoze XP (a slave to Bill myself) caps the refresh rate at 60mhz. There are numerous programs to "bust out" of the limit set, but make sure your monitor supports it. As to the question of resolution affecting the life span of your monitor, I would not worry about it (although the world was once thought flat, I should think you on fairly safe ground);). Worry more about refresh rates and what your monitor, gfx card and software support. |

Refresh Rate is determined by your video card, monitor, and the video card driver, not an OS thing. Mostly it's your monitor. That is why there is a tab to select to hide all refresh rates not supported by the monitor. And yes, Resolution affects refresh rates, ie. which ones you can set your driver to.
