Fontfolio but I thought it was Adobe who made it? Maybe Macromedia bought it at some point. I'm not too sure who the author is. But also there is High Logic's Font Creator if they are still around. I got the 30 day trial on this one a long time ago and never even gave it a shot due to the amount of time it looked like it could involve compared to the amount of time it took to just download a ton of fonts from the free sites. If you try one of these, let us know what you think about the whole process. I'd be interested to see if you found it really valuable and if it's a quicker process than what may be perceived. |

Cybling is talking about Macromedia Fontographer, which I've heard is one of the best font programs. I tried to make my own font a while back and downloaded some free, crappy program from Cnet that I couldn't get to work. If you want to make one without buying any fancy programs, I'd suggest making large versions of each letter in Photoshop, then just importing each individual letter into the document you need them for and resizing them. Sure it's time consuming, but it gets the job done.

actually, the typography class I am taking next fall will be using illustrator. it's not classified as a typography program, but you can design font's in it just the same. |
