Though it lacks the brutal punch of the Viper, we're saddened to learn that Daimler-Chrysler has officially pulled the plug on the Prowler after a successful six-year run. The final 300 Prowlers will be painted a special Deep Candy Red color that Daimler-Chrysler says makes 'em sparkle in bright light.

There is good news in all of this. Tom Marinelli -- VP of the Chrsyler/Jeep Global Brand Center -- says, "While we're discontinuing Prowler production, I can assure you that we've got even more head-turning vehicles in our pipeline". Dear Tom: Please, please, please say there's a RWD, Hemi-powered machine in the mix so we can forget the whole V-6 thing.

Here's a look at the Prowler's color/production history: Of total Prowlers sold, 1,530 were purple, 1,576 were yellow, 1,911 were black, 1,573 were red, 151 were black/red two-tone "Woodward Editions," 1,342 were silver, 163 were silver/black two-tone "Black Tie Editions," 1,039 were orange, 1,278 were Mullholand Blue, 616 were Inca Gold, and the final batch of 300 shimmer in Deep Candy Red. We'll miss you Prowler -- now get off the stage and make room for something with a V-8. -- Steve Magnante

maybe they should paint the last of 'em with invisible paint, so I wouldn't have to hurt my eyes by looking at them anymore.... :p :p

MOPAR does have Hemis in the works right now . . . granted they are not the 426 elephant.

They will be 345 ci with 345 hp, 365 lb of torque; due to be available on 2004 sedans (possibly a new charger, and 300M), and trucks.

There are also rumors running around about a 383 ci hemi as well.

Brand new crate HEMIs have been around for years, in 426 baby!

425 hp . . . . . :D

Hey Dek; maybe you'll have to trade in your car for a more "family car" by then . . . HEMI 300M . . .

PS.
The HEMI 300M, and Charger (or whatever else) would have RWD!

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING! Didn't you watch "Dukes Of Hazard"?!

Imagine walking into a dealership in 1969 and leaving with a car with over 425 hp, and 490 lbs of torque.

Dek, that is as much as a viper!

Versions of the orignally hemi now power top fuel dragsters, monster trucks, and racing boats.

There's way more to the story . . . but I don't have the time - or the strength.

I don't really care about cars... I just get in and drive them. As long as I can go 80 on the interstate, I don't really care about anything else.
