I had a 64MB Nomad die on me by dropping it. Flash memory based too. The battery connectors broke when it hit the ground.

One of the teachers at a local high school we work at dropped his BRAND NEW Sony laptop a few weeks ago from about 4 1/2 - 5 feet off the bleachers at a game, and was worried about it, so he called us to come and look at it before he started it up, and nothing was wrong with it. I nearly s**t my pants. I figured that baby would be toast, but it came out perfect. Really made me feel good about Sony laptops, I'll tell ya' that. My main worry was the hard drive, but it seems to work OK for now. I don't know what kind of permanent, but small damage it did that might shorten it's lifespan, but I was generally impressed.

I saw a guy with a brand new $3000 laptop open it up and break the screen off. He had to prop it up with books. Haha. The irony. My old 286 is holdin up strong. I'm surprised the shyte that'll go through. Now, I'm disappointed at the crap they try to feed us.

My two cents.

" I remember back in the olden days when they build things to last.... Nowadays stuff just breaks as soon as you buy it so you have to get another one. Bastard kids...."
