I really think the photography section has to stay. A while back it was the only active forum here, and like malibu said, retouching really involves a lot of photoshop.

I agree that photography needs to stay, note the first part of photoshop is "photo" I also don't agree with getting rid of anything related to flash/video/3d/postproduction. If anything with the new version of Flash and its expanded video capabilities we're going to see more folks exploring final cut, after effects, etc. I realize that 3d isn't a huge draw for this site but there are some folks who are pretty good, and when it comes to texture work there is a direct relation between PS and 3d. I do like the web development/web design idea, a lot of time a development side problem could be solved with either client side or server side code, having those two sections broken down doesnt seem to do much either way. chris |

Indeed... We could just throw 3d/flash/video together, in one section. Since there aren't too many threads, it won't get chaotic or anything... |

In the last 3 months, there has only been 7 active threads in the 3d/Flash forums. Does a topic with that little activity really need its own forum?

I think that if we don't include it, we will see all those threads concerning flash problems or whatever in other threads. Since it aren't too many threads, it won't be that much trouble to delete them, but yeah...

I agree with deker. 33 posts since last year, and over half have 3 or less replies. The question is do we have enough users to provide help in this area?? Cyb keeps it going with his work, Fig's pretty much "the man" in that section, and ive replied to a post or 2. Beyond that....i have no idea. Or is there a way to group it into something else?? I thought maybe a generic "multimedia" section would do...but without anything else to add im just renaming the same section. |

wohoo...i'm the man... :D Some fair points though. For me personally, I'm starting to do a lot of video, compositing, and getting more into 3d work so i've got an interest in that area, just don't know how that would cross over with everything here. chris |

Well my intensions by the post were to have "Flash, 3D, and Video Production" all as one group, but just have the user tag their posts.... something like. "[Flash] How do I do tweening?" "[3d] What is a mesh?" "[Video] How do I cut frames?" Something along those lines. As Deker said these section haven't gotten a lot of activity but they are still part of webdesign, and if we want to make our forums appealing to more members I think they should be on there somewhere. |
