Giant 6in mug with cow prints on 'em. And a matching bowl. And Miso ramen at a Japanese noodle shop.

Nothing, Dek?

Care to elaborate, or was that one of those 'let's not spend any money on each other' types of deals that couples make? Or were you excercising some kind of newfound athiesm?

Anyway, I got clothes and a cell phone.

And cash, apparently, but not till next week. That'll be going toward an MP3 player. Either a NEUROS, or an Entempo player, although I haven't heard a really great review of those ones yet.

The usual. Nothing. As it should be. I don't want people buying crap for me that I probably won't like anyways. I'd rather they take that money and spend it on one of the kids in the family. Xmas is a kids thing. Most of the special, magical feeling (if any) we adults get out of xmas is through seeing the children in our lives enjoy the holiday. Isn't it?

Yeah sure there are exceptions to this, like with the hopelessly and sappy romantic lovey-dovey couples on their first xmas, or a number of other situations... and sure I've "been there done that" too... just not this year. And I'm perfectly ok with that. In fact I think I may like it. ;)

My wife and I don't have much extra cash to spend on anything, so we just went to a movie on xmas day. I don't need anything though. Have everything I want already.

Yeah, though I haven't been in that situation yet, I know that it happens to people, and as for what Outpatient said:
I'd rather they take that money and spend it on one of the kids in the family. Xmas is a kids thing.
Yeah, it really is. I mean, I didn't think so before, but this year, I have two nephews, one 18 months, one 6 months, and really, this christmas was really cool to see how they reacted to stuff, but reeeaaally boring otherwise.

(Caution: Partial Rant below)
See, here's my biggest problem with christmas as it stands right now: You're supposed to get people what they want, and they're supposed to get you what you want. And if you neglect to get them what they wanted, you feel bad, and they feel shafted, and likewise, if they don't get you what you want. THEREFORE, why not just get yourself whatever the hell you want, and at best give each other some nice, heartfelt cards, and get together and have dinner or something.

I mean, I know that the amount of money I spent on people's gifts was not equal to the cumulative amount of money spent on the gifts that I recieved. And the amount of money that I spent was roughly equal to the cost of an iPod, and much more than the Matrix Bosed set, both of which I really wanted. BUT, I had to get stuff for other people, and the people who got stuff for me make more money yearly, but apparently less of it is disposable. And therefore, I have to wait to save up some more money, as I spent more or less my last three paychecks on christmas shopping, and I had demolished my savings throughout the semester with school expenses. But in the spirit of the season, you can't spend money on yourself, while expecting to get presents. HOWEVER, I would have gladly given up recieving presents if it meant that I could have gotten the items that I really wanted.

BUT, whaddya gonna do?

...
