This somehow finally pushed me to get service pack 2. Only took me like 3 hours to finally download and install it, and now my comp doesn't need to be restarted after the screen saver comes on, a process which requires me to immediately run ad aware and spybot s&d, taking on the average 5-10 minutes. The of course, I have to end about a dozen errant processes, that cause even more pop-ups. Then of course, SP2 has rendered windows media player completely inert. Uninstalled it, in fact, and furthermore, will not let me reinstall it, even on the 5th try, citing a missing dll. It was there before I got SP2, why not now? Also on what I can only assume is an unrelated matter, my internet is moving as slow as cold molasses through a plastic straw. AND, as the icing on the piss-me-off cake that my computer's been baking for the last week or so, since SP2's security updates, it asks me which of my startup programs I want to run at startup. How about ALL OF THEM. That's why they're in the startup folder. iTunes, Photoshop, Stickies. Seriously, Stickies?! What kind of security risk do Stickies pose? The program's been unchanged since like 1995. Man... If only every operating system worked this smoothly.
what i especially loved about the service pack was the "windows security center" which took a seat in my systray and has been telling me that i do in fact have f-secure internet security running, until i downloaded xp anti spy and voilĂ there was a button to disable the security center. now what does really piss me of fis that the windows media player is gone. i hate the program but sometimes you just need it... so first of all the shortcut was changed to my seconds harddisc and even if i change it back or run it directly form its folder it will not start up. oh and btw, the "theme" does not appear to work with german windows xp. |

Oh yeah, I get the same missing dll error when I change my theme settings, ie. Background. It lets me ultimately do it, but everytime I click anything (oh yes, I mean anything) it cites the same missing dll as the culprit. Gotta love them dll's. |

How is it that official Microsoft themes look like cheap 3rd party crap, and the 3rd party stuff kicks ass? Oh yeah...now I remember.

The new XP theme looks a lot like IPB 2.0 (PF x). Or maybe it's just me...
