yah, ati has a 4.9 catalyst beta out just for that exact problem. http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4547.html there's 3 options: a) get the beta driver and risk instability (noticed none whatsoever so far and the specs are gone almost completely) b) underclock your card c) get a new graphics card. |

Well I'm glad it working for you now. I was watching a friend play it today and it looks scary as hell. Fun but scary. I'll have to give it a whirl one of these days.

I played Doom 3 last night on my buddy's brand new machine with a 9800xt card in it. I could play on Ultra High Quality graphics and everything at smooth frame rates. It's very pretty... Though too scary for me! Also the walking sound is really loud. What's up with that. And the guns feel really puny. I was expecting it to be really incredibly loud and everything. But they didn't sound so great. All the monsters die the same way. I would have thought that with all the graphical prowess they have, they could have made it more interesting when people die. And it didn't seem that gory either. I mean yeah there was blood everywhere, but it didn't seem to matter if you shot someone in the arm with a shotgun, there was just a little squirt of blood on the wall behind them. But I only played it for about 45 minutes, so maybe I just didn't get far enough into it. |

i got a soundpack because i too found that almost all of the guns lacked a "punch".
