That’s so depressing... Fox is practically rubbing it in our face that these elections will be decided not by the popular vote but by the electoral. Why are we bringing “democracy” to Iraq when we don’t even have a true democracy?

Who ever said we were a true Democracy?. The ideal situation for Iraq would be our same situation, a Democratic Republic, because they are such a diverse group of people, as we were here 225 years ago.

"We must confront the ideologies of violence at the source. This can be done by promoting democracy throughout the greater Middle East and beyond."

" The best hope for lasting peace depends on true democracy."

Remarks by Vice President Cheney, Rome, 1/26/04

Why is he saying this?

Don't ask me. Cheney's got a few screws loose. Trust me, I don't think Cheney is the ideal Vice-Presidential candidate. Many out there would fiercely disagree with me, but he just doesn't sit well with me. The guy obviously knows jack.

All I hear is democracy, democracy, and democracy and yet the common people, considered as the primary source of political power in a democracy actually don’t have the power.

That just kind of irritates me. Thank you fox for rubbing that in my face!

We've never, never claimed to be a true Democracy. Keep in mind that we do carry aspects of a Democracy and of a Republic, just like France and Germany.

I think we’re misleading about it though.

It's just a brand name. Calling ourselves a Democracy is just like calling tissues Kleenex. It's too difficult to say, "We're spread Democratic Republicacy to the world..."

:: thread hijack ::

The GOP is catching on to the whole Kerry has no backbone for policy theme...
