there's only so much "mac" software anyway, right? final cut, keynote, and the iApps come to mind, that's about it, i can't see how that comprises too many posts. when you do some browsing on this board and see dozens of old posts from windows users bashing apple and its users i wouldn't think it was really that big of a deal... chris |

It's not censorship. It's just like blocking someone on AIM. Malevolent Jester can choose to not see posts by me. Everyone else will still see my posts, but he won't. It's not a site-wide type of thing. It's just a per-user thing. Or you could just not click on posts about Macs. But Windows users shouldn't have to go to that trouble, right? It is their internet after all. |

I love my Mac. But I still love my PC too. There are still things that bug the hell out of me on my Mac. Like Real Audio files don't stream like they should in my browser at times, certain AOL games my Wife wants to play she can't unless she goes to the PC. Stuff like that, etc. People who say that Macs doesn't crash... I've had a number of times where everything has froze and had to hold the power button in. This happens less often than it did on my PC but it does happen. Blue screen of death, well OS X has their own version of that. I'm sure most Mac users are familiar with the dreadfull dark grey jargon screen that pops up occasionally on a reboot. Oh, and why can't I just press my cd drawer button to have it open. Why must I use my keyboard. That bugs me. I still like both machines. They both have their pro's and con's. I'll probably be buying a new machine this year or the first part of next year and honestly I'm not 100% sure what I will get. If all the little things that bug me that don't work on my Mac worked it wold be another Mac hands down. But the fact is we are still a much smaller group and more things are designed to work on windows only. Ok, time to jump off the fence. |

Lately Bittorrent has been locking up my Powerbook every time it gets to 99.9% completed. The whole system just hangs and I have to hard-reboot. Maybe I need to upgrade to a new version. And I had terrible crashing issues with my PB a while back. Safari and Photoshop would crash within seconds of opening. But that was due to a bad stick of RAM it turns out. I agree about the little annoyances like real audio and certain sites not working. They aren't directly a problem with the Mac obviously, but it's still annoying and a con for the Mac side. I don't even install Real on my Macs. I just avoid sites that only supply Real Audio files. Windows Media Player also sucks on the Mac. Big Surprise. |

No I made it up just so you could comment about it! It's not the only reason but a top one. And it's not just a couple of posts. It's not rare when someone posts for legitimate help in the Computer forum about Windows, and someone has to chime in with "get a mac", "make the switch", etc. Or post about an IE problem, and they get no real help, just someone's opinion of alternative browsers. And no we can't block you. Mods/Admins can't be blocked, unfortunately. Others have long since been taken care of. /done with this thread |

guys, guys, guys... just chill down or something. Let's not get all personal because some uses a different operating system then you. Leaving a forum because some people like a mac, and others like a pc seems like a step to far for me though. That's why this is a public forum, you can get different views on certain things... I mean, when you actually would show us some of your designs, i'm sure one or two people might give you some negative comments too, that wouldn't be a reason to leave, right? Anyway, just keep it nice and friendly and just STOP NAGGING ABOUT WHAT IS A BETTER OS!!! It's just personal preference, like everything in life. |

ok, sorry but umm...waah. there have been a total of less than 150 posts since january with the word "apple" or "mac" in them (not threads, posts, many of which occurred within the same thread), less than one mention of a mac per day on average. if that's enough to make you leave/not visit a message board then you're WAY too sensitive about your choice of operating system... chris |

Yeah... I really didn't realize that my carefree and lax attitude towards the subject didn't get conveyed in my post... I'm not angry, or annoyed... it was just an observation. There is no way in hell that it will make me post less; school (amongst other things) were doing that to me. The only reason that I made this thread was to show my observation; not to be bragging, but Windows users DO NOT do this. We're quiet. ;) ---------- Another issue is Apple users idiotically hitting down on Windows because of it's supposable infiriority... just because they developed their Apple-ego from ads and how pretty their Mac is. Apple users (in general, or at least the ones I've MET) think that Windows simply blows. When I try to tell them that I, for one, don't get ANY viruses/trojans, my computer NEVER crashes, it's never slow, all programs run, all plug-and-play hardware works like a charm, and that I don't fit into the bogus stereotype of the Windows user doomed with errors, they don't listen (I run WindowsXP Pro on a system built by me). It's ridiculous. Once they get into their Apple-user complex there is no changing their hegemony, or at least that's what they think. They become oblivious to all things non-Apple. To get this clear: in no way am I against or disproving of Apple products. They're awesome. But they shouldn't invoke this behavior in their users. |
