Everywhere I go, both online and not, I see Apple users blatantly promoting their software. It's getting annoying, no offense to specific Apple users, but in the Microsoft's new illustrator program thread just in this forum one lone Apple user is plugging Mac software, without any relation to the thread at hand. It's practically spam. People at my school do it. As if Apple software is magically good and that by just telling us, Windows users, about it will make us instantly switch. As if those people, Apple users, are special because of their software. They parade around like they're some sort of elite aristoracy of the technological world and point down smuggly to us, sophomoric Windows users.

Haha, i think you're blowing this a bit out of proportion.. The software Deker posted about was perfectly on topic. It didn't fit within the context of the original thread, sure, but nor did the post that he was replying to (hence, the software plug). I don't see it as pretentious at all. Nos. |

I've been seeing that for a long time, which is my time spent here especially has become quite limited. But it has alot of other places too. I just found it useless to even try and point it out.

I agree with you MJ. No point in bitching about it really.... neither side is going to change. But i gotta admit they are like the jehovah witnesses of computers. (knock, knock : Buy a MAC or your going to hell) A quote from "A Parents Guide To Raising A Windows User" "Dont let a mac user near your children, they'll try to lure them to the other side with shiny objects and bright colors" (its early....so i apologize if that joke is really really lame) |

It's not all Mac users. It's basically just me and one or two other people (on this forum anyway). Saying it's all Mac users would be like me saying all Windows users are whiney slobs who have nothing better to do than complain to everyone about how they aren't being treated fairly because there are actually a few people out there that enjoy using something other than Windows. And by writing that post you come off as a snotty "elite aristocrat" who thinks just because someone doesn't use Windows like the rest of the world that we are somehow not worthy to post our opinions on "your" messageboards. Illustrator and Powerpoint were also mentioned in that thread, which has nothing to do with Microsoft's new vector program, so why aren't you bitching and moaning about that? It's just as "off topic" as the Keynote blurb... Are people only allowed to offer differing opinions on software as long as that software runs on Windows? MBB, you're posting here less just because of the occasional post about Macintosh software? Right... If it bothers you guys SO much to see someone talk about something that you don't like, feel free to block posts from me, utopian 23, and graphicsguy, and that should pretty much solve your Mac problems. If Mac users are the Jehovah's Witnesses of the computer world, then Windows users are the medieval Catholics that burn everyone at the stake if they don't believe the same way they do. |

Here's some of my best 10cent Psychology: What people want more than anything is to feel validated. When someone can convince someone to see things their way, they feel validated. That's no different if you're a Mac user or a Windows user--or a switch hitter. What people fear more than anything is change. People resist vehemently a change in the way they do things. Combine these two things together and you get Mac vs. PC debates that take on an air of "The Angry Evangelist". Or I could be wrong... |
