I like Yellowcard, Blink-182, and most of Avril Lavigne's stuff. I also like Evanescence, No Doubt, and quite a few other bands they actually play on the radio. I'm not of the belief that just because something has mass-market appeal and is commercially successful, it automatically sucks. I'm also not one to latch on to some indie band like Modest Mouse, then call them sellouts just because they are enjoying a bit of success on the radio. I also don't like afi, black flag, the ramones, or the sex pistols. In fact, I probably haven't even listened to one song of any of theirs on purpose, without just hearing it in a movie or something. So, bam, take that. |

You Mac users are odd... :D No, but seriously, i have no problem with the people that enjoy pop-punk and similar genres, i just dislike the music. I don't call indie bands sellouts when they make a music video, and i don't hate bands for their success in the music industry. I judge by the sound and lyrics, and to me Yellowcard doesn't deliver. Nor does Blink 182, or Avril, etc. Nos. |

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular about the indie band thing, that just happens a lot. People "discover" some indie band and like them just because no one has heard of them. Then when they get popular, they call them sellouts and look for another, more underground band.

I was working on recording my new demo last night and I suddenly became afraid that teenagers were going to hear it and be like.."That sounds like Yellowcard." I've got a violin playing on a couple songs...but they kick the **** out of Yellowcard. I really like the fact that all these sucky bands are getting all the attention. That allows me to keep all the awesome bands to myself....knowing that the ignorant world doesn't get to listen to the quality of music I do! Buahahaha. oooh, check out www.jroddy.com and listen to Charlcie and Unnamed all Gamed |
