one of my clients/friends has said that download speeds from his site have seemed extremely slow, trying to check to see if this is a prob or was just a server glitch. if you can check out judjohnson.com, give me an idea of how long it takes for the mp3 to start playing on the homepage, then click to the music page and let me know how long its takes to download an mp3 i'd GREATLY appreciate it. a note of when you did it would be great too. thanks y'all.

I'm not on what you'd call broadband - just cableTV stuff - It took me 11 seconds to fully load the front page and the popup with the mp3 started loading after 5 of those seconds. It took the mp3 51 seconds to fully load and I heard it fine.

I started writing the post as soon as I heard the song so - ...take out another 50 seconds or so - the time it took me to write this

hi there Fig.
Uhm just to warn you, browsers like Mozilla don't allow popups like that so the music on the first site didn't work until I switched to Explorer.
The download time was about 15 sec for the first song and maybe one minute for the songs to dl.
Not sure if you wanted any comments on the site but just a little thing.
The navigation on the guitar on the top is pretty hard to see.
I didn't notice them until I put my mouse by misstake on them.
Otherwise pretty nice site and the singer is great.

No auto-load for the home page mp3. I waited 2 minutes.

"Uhm just to warn you, browsers like Mozilla don't allow popups like that..."

Most folks who use Mozilla have the "Squash unrequested pop-up windows" preference set that way. We (Mozilla-freaks) CAN accept unrequested pop-up windows, it's just that a big reason for using Mozilla is that it has built in ramparts against that sort of screen-hogging junk.

When I Think Of You, from the "Music" page, started playing via the QT plugin in about 2 seconds from clicking the link to the mp3; full D/L of the song took about 18 seconds (Comcast cable; 3 Mb/sec, Lancaster PA...didn't check to see where the server was located, so I don't know how many hops it took).

thanks guys, and appreciate the pop-up info. i'm interested to see this later on when folks have checked the site at different times to see what the download speed is like. thanks for the help.

I used IE, and the streaming in the popup worked fine. Took about two or three seconds. For the download, i got about 80k/sec, which is average for my connection.

Nos.

mozilla firefox <3

i strongly discourage the use of a popup on loading pages, do to the fact that pretty much everyone is trained to close them on site or they just have popup blocker(google toolbar) or they use a browser that turns off popups(mozilla firefox being one)

edit: when i turned off popup blocking the popup mp3 played instantly and ~70kb/s on mp3 download which is pretty normal for me
