It would be interesting where they take that. 3d desktops have been in the works for several years. Not sure where they are now, but I had heard this from someone who tried running one once, "it was like having a counter strike running in the background the whole time you did anything."

I could care less about M$ anymore. By the time they come out with their next gen of OS's I will hope I don't have a scrap of M$ in my home ever again...

Yeah...so does M$ plan to have the OS sucking up 95% of the system resources as the cool 3D menus slide in an out? I think stability should outweight coolness on the priority list.

I think it would be one of those things where it will run fine when you have a 64 bit chip and 2+ gigs of ram.

I couldn't find the one that someone I know tried out. I will have to search more. It was for windows and you could demo it for free. But I have a feeling it will run better if it is 'integrated' or 'hacked' - as M$ seems to do things - into the OS, rather than an application. Probably part of the reason it ran so bad. It was kind of cool, but the designers had the most retarded ideas. One was like the deck of a star treck like ship. You could navigate around the deck and use different apps, etc. But being I can't really stand star treck I thought the idea was bit cliche nerdish.

That's it! Bill Gates is having an identity crisis and thinks he's George Lucas!

OSX > Linux > Windows.

I actually have quite a few linux versions on CD, (linuxiso.org), and it is actually very interesting to run on. O well, I will settle for a G5 when Deker desides to send me one.

I just read an article on Longhorn as it stands right now... http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,1588159,00.asp?kc=ETRSS02129TX1K0000532

Every single "new and revolutionary" thing it does is already done in OSX, and on today's hardware, with no performance hit at all. And this isn't out until 2006 at the earliest? Apple will have released at least 3 new major updates to their OS by then if they continue at their current development rate. Pretty ridiculous...

Longhorn = laughable.
Steal---»bastardize---»add some ugly whiz-bang---»advertise the piss out of it to the idiot unwashed masses so that they think this is brand new M*cr*s*ft "innovation"---»Continue to eat Apple's dust---»Continue playing the OS catch-up game.
