I looked at one of these when i was in Rome. It was the hotels courtesy car. If i remember well the one i saw was a mercedes. They are really tiny. It wont hit it off in america though because its TOO economical. If my memory serves me correctly, when i was over there i was told that vehicle insurance in Europe is based on engine size, therefore most people drive really small vehicles. Rome for example, about 80% of the people ride motor scooters and mopeds everywhere. Its really quite a culture shock comming from north america where lots of people drive huge SUV's and the mini van has become somewhat of a family symbol. I like the little cars though, very cool

I wouldn't mind if America downsized a bit. I prefer smaller cars, with good gas mileage and low insurance.

By the way, I was watching a documentary about the future of transportation and they were talking about these smaller urban only cars. They say they look small but on the inside they are as large as a two passenger car. I'd like to see for myself, becuase they call the new Mini Cooper 4 passengers and I can barely fit in the driver's seat.

I'm not sure about the rest of the United States but here in California we have special carpool lanes on our freeways. The idea is to get people to get a ride with someone else and that would lessen the amount of cars on the road. Well it doesn't work that great...

I was thinking while commuting today maybe they should get rid of the carpool lanes and make special lanes for the little cars. Why not? It's harder for people to carpool if you don't know anyone going your commute route. People will be encouraged to buy there own little commuter car and it'll be better for the environment too.

They have HOV lanes all over the interstate, Flack :p. So yeah, it's not just in Cali :D

And that's a good idea. But then you'll have a bunch of libertarians saying we're restricting their rights :p

Well I didn't want to assume everyone had those. I know we get some of our funding for our freeways if we bow down and put a carpool lane in. In other states there's tons of tolls to help pay for the roads. Anywho.

You know I was thinking about the speed cap on the new little cars. I'm not sure if they'll ever get any faster. How can they make one of those little cars non lethal if they get in a reck going above 50 mph? They'd need some super foam or some space age bubble or something to deploy lol.

I'm not at all about the little cars. If given the choice, I'd much rather drive a Maybach or Bentley over a Prius or Echo. I want to be able to lay down across the back seat, fix 12 adults comfortably, and get 4 miles per gallon if I so choose.

And what's an interstate? We only have gravel roads in Iowa.

I dont mind big cars, but i dont like paying for gas. Roads? HAH ! who needs em. Canada proves that, We have the mighty transcanada highway. We have miles on either side where you will hit nothing if you fall asleep at the wheel, and yet we still only have a 2 lane highway most of the way accross the country!
