well - it takes all sorts to make peace

this reminds me of a hippy joke I once heard... "Fighting for peace is like f**king for virginity "

Yeah, I suppose your government is only enacting that policy for one of 2 reasons:
  • There is an epidemic of late-teen pregnancies among unmarried women (Is there such a problem in Romania?)
  • Or, it's an attempt to publicize a policy that is accepting and of modern sexual freedoms (specifically among women) in an effort to mirror the social climate of more western european countries
Of course, I don't much get the entire idea of endorsing such a principle. I mean, promiscuity will occur on it's own, among high school students. There's no need for debauchery to be federally funded.

lol@bigpoppa

pganguly - there's no epidemic of late teen pregnancies....not more than usual anyway.. and the "modern" thing - yeah I guess. But it's simpler than this - it's election year. And they're like monkeys - they see stuff other people do and they ape it. but poorly They see the french have free condoms for young - ..."well let's do that" - the see the swedish give free abortions - they say "hey let's do that too!" - only the results are sometime hilarious. Last year they passed (at the same time) two laws that were contradicting eachother - it took them 4 months to come up with an idea. and that was a third law! They couldn't just kill one of the two.

Another fine example is the IDs story Get this: If you burn your IDs you're doing something illegal. It is forbidden to go without an ID card. However - it is illegal to arrest a person whose identity is uncertain for fear you may get the wrong person. The only
accepted modality to establish a person's ID in order to arrest him/her is by ID card. Even if a brother will say - hey that's Mihai - my brother - I can vouch for his identity - they will be unable to arrest me. So...this happened - a thief was caught - and they tried arresting him - but he didn't have an ID - so they let him go. Then they fined him for not having an ID card. But the fine was returned to the police unpaid because the thief said it wasn't on his name! And they couldn't proove it.

Man...they are just BEGGING for people to break the law, aren't they?

That type of thing would NEVER happen here, although there have been some bizarre cases of people getting away with really serious crimes on some bizarre technicality.

well - see? - that's why we make fun of the government...And this barely scratches the surface.... - For instance they let a stupid guy (government official) sell our entire commercial fleet to the greeks and then they arrested him for embezzlement 4 years later...then they fined him something like 5 000$ and let him go. The estimated "percentage" he took for himself was something around 4 million dollars....
