Anybody see it yet? I plan on going soon with the wife. I'm just curious if you have seen it what your thoughts were. "I" really can't comment on anything I've heard or feel because I have not seen it yet.

Just amazing. I felt like the whole experience was made for me. Like I was the only one in the theater. Hearing it in the original languages made the setting so real and consuming...it was just an excellent movie. I can't believe the negative press that has come out about it. Anything that is purely critical comes from a source with an agenda, and they're way off base about the movie. See it for yourself. It's powerful.

It would be interesting if the people who reply to this thread would first state their religious beliefs and then their opinion about the movie. It may provide some insight about how the film portrayed Jesus and if was believeable, offensive, etc...

I stated where I am on religion in the Gay Marriage thread, and I have yet to see the movie but I intend to here in the very near future. I am curious as to what my reaction will be simply based on how I feel about the movie Dogma. I know it's 180 degrees different, but there is still a strong message in it. I find that religion can be narrow minded, and I wonder how this movie handles that.

I'm not religous even in a nominal way, but I do take the existence of Jesus Christ as fact. The idea that Jesus is the son of God is a whole 'nother subject.

I do want to see the movie, if nothing else for the historical value. What I don't understand is all the controversy surrounding the movie. It blows my mind that there are people who are outraged at the very existence of this movie. I read an article in the paper a few weeks (maybe months) back that he thought this movie was total filth and that the State of Iowa should ban it. I wonder if he thinks movies like "Kill Bill" are filth and should be banned? For Christ's sake, it's just a movie, to be offended by this is worse than a Christian being offended by a Jenna Jameson movie.

LOL! :D

I think I'm going to see it mainly because my girlfriend and her family are really religious.

I think all the negative press it’s been getting just shows how ignorant so many people are. Even if the films not 100% true it’s arrogant for people to say it’s too violent or what not. Nobodies alive today that can say for certain what really happened. From what I’ve heard Mel tried to be very accurate. If people are offended by this version then they need to take a step back and open their eyes.

Just my thoughts.

i saw it wednesday night, and i've never been in a theater before where the end of a film was met with total silence. its powerful, visually and emotionally, and i can't see anyone watching the film and not being moved in some way regardless of their beliefs.

and the movie isn't a bit about religion. anyone trying to convince you otherwise is selling forgot to actually watch the film.

I haven't seen the movie but you are really close minded about it. I read a bunch of sh*t about it and it's really anti-semetic. Gibson added a bunch of stuff in the movie that is anti-semetic and is not even in the Bible, he added it on his own will. His father even stated that he believed that "most, if not all, of the Holocaust was fiction." I think it would be interesting to see as a period piece, but even that is degraded because he lost a lot of cred' by putting his own spin on it.

You're being pretty closed minded yourself for judging a movie you haven't even seen Telemakhos, why not try seeing it and forming your own opinion instead of basing it on an article you read. I'm sure if anyone is "spinning" anything, it's the media...

i find it interesting that a film can be anti-semetic when the main character being persecuted, as well as his followers, are jewish. the story hasn't changed in a couple thousand years, why are people upset about it now?
