How much do you think sites like http://www.alienware.com/, http://www.falcon-nw.com/, and http://www.voodoopc.com/ cost to develop?

Im gonna guess around 5k? I am doing a slightly similar site in terms of functionality, and I am looking around at the going rates.

thank ya!

Waaay, waaay, waaaaay more than $5k. Most of them probably have an internal design team... If not, and if those carts and stuff are coded from scratch i would guess easily upwards of $20k, and depending on how much backend stuff they have for the intranet, could go up a lot higher than that.

That in no way necessarily means that's what you should charge however.

i think deker is right. I think those sites are expensibe do to their back end. I truly dont see 5 grand in design in all those sites the nicest looking is alien ware but i think a independent designer can make all those graphics for less than 5 grand. Now having said that to code and make it functional yeah it would be more that 5 grand i think.

Just the shopping cart need someone that really knows what he is doing for it to be functional.

also consider that if you're designing a site like that you don't just talk to them once, design it, then put it up. there's tons of meetings, site architecture, design concepts and revisions, etc. that all costs money too

There's this picture that's painted in new comers in the design industry, that you'll get the jobs online and never have to meet the customer.
