Around an hour ago a woman standing on a platform at a train station got trapped by a train while it was arriving at the station. She was slammed against the train and eventually landed on the side of the rails with her hair trappen between the wheels of the train and the tracks. I was sitting in that train and it sounded like a tree just hit us....we got out and saw how she lay there near motionless....emergency services arrived relatively prompt concidering how large this city is, but before they arrived, i was standing there along with everyone else watching people trying to get under the train looking at her and i was thinking "what to do..what to do..what to do.."...Per chance i had my cam with me, so i though..."I'll take a pic"...but then i thought...."wait...WHAT?..take a pic?"....I took a quick pic anyway...some guy yelled "you with the cam, GET OUTTA HERE"...I ignored....I guess this is what a paparazzi photographer feels like......I kinda felt guilty about the pic afterwards thinking about that girl....I don't even know if she's still alive......
would you have done the same thing ?

UPDATE:
It was in the papers today:
Frankfurt.
The papers say she died immediately but unfortunately that isn't the truth...we could see her feet moving trying to free herself from her situation while she lay there. The paper also states that at this point it is still unclear whether it was an accident or a suicide. I'll do a full translation of the story later...gotta go now,..

That depends. Did you stop, zoom in, crouch on one knee, take a couple breaths, take the photo with a huge flash, and then have your camera make that rewinding noise?

I'm not sure what I would do. Maybe I'd take the picture if I was a little bit aways.

There is nothing worse than vultures circling a dying corpse. I can only hope that in your darkest moment some insensitive bastard comes and takes photos for his and others gratification.

See, that's the exact thing.....I showed it to some people at work...and I brought this subject of "was it right or wrong" up and everyone has another view on the subject but EVERYONE wants a copy of the pic.....People want to see images in the papers or on the news but they don't think about how those images are made.
I don't think i'll post the pic online just yet....there were no news reporters in the area at the time but if I do see a pic of that incident (of that lady on the tracks) in some newspaper, i'll post the pic here first (but not today).....Some people even suggested I sell the pic to the press.....that's just wrong...

No offence and all, but I really don't see why people would wanna take pics of something like that. It's not only disgusting, but also a very weird thing to do. Why would anyone wanna look at pics like that? Seriously, and why anyone could ever be in a situation like that and even be thinking about getting a few shots, is beyond me.

And if you put that pic online, and don't get me wrong... you would be the biggest arse on the planet. You don't even know what happended to her, and do you really think that family members or others that know her, or any normal person with respect for other people, would like to stumble upon that pic?

I think you should think about what you do, and what effect it may have on others, instead of being a selfish paparazzi.

No offence taken; i knew what i was getting myself into when i posted this topic. You had to be there to understand the full situation, what i thought and why i took the picture, but consider this: How many accidents have you seen on film footage on TV news or view as pictures in newspapers. I bet you'd never given though about the cameramen, photographers or the individuals in those pictures before. Some people here at work seen it without knowing who took it but said "damn...what sad thing...........do you have more ?!". Everyone wants too look but not think about what they're really looking at. That's why people buy newspapers....that's why people like to hear bodycounts on TV...People like sensations.
