Yankees will kick butt...
Don't be so sure. I can give you a handful of reasons as to why they wont be so hot this year. One being Andy Pettite. Any baseball fan will tell you how irreplaceable he is to a pitching staff. He was on pace to be the winningest Yankee of all time, a dominant young leftie in his prime...big mistake. Now you have Kevin "grandpa" Brown to fill his spot. A great pitcher but also a majour liability...more to come if need be. ;)
Yeah except for A-Rod is 28 years old at his prime, while Karl Malone is 40 years old and a non factor for the lakers, even when he does play (which he isn't doing to much of so far). And on Gary Payton, yes he is good, but I wouldn't count him as one of the top point guards in the league. Face it, the Lakers aren't the huge force everyone expected them to be. Shaq and Kobe can still play, but the other two future hall of famers are just too old. Don't even try to compare the Yankees and Lakers right now. Yankees will kick butt, while Lakers will sit around and have a tea party and get they're cans kicked by all the crap shoes they come accross.
Im comparing yankees and the Lakers by how they have so many "great" players at once, spending all this money and they arent even winning the championship, how sad =(

i don't care because the astros have the best pitching staff in major league baseball. better yet, there were able to really tick off the yankees while doing it

The Jays have the best pitcher in the bigs right now I'd like to say. And with the 2nd best offence in the American Leauge, we have a potential Anaheim-esque team.

best pitcher, maybe. but with a starting rotation of roger clemens, andy pettite, roy oswalt, wade miller, and tim redding, solid middle relief, and octavio dotel closing i don't think there's a better overall pitching staff in baseball. add in a potentially explosive offense with biggio, bagwell, berkman, hidalgo, and jeff kent and the 'stros are legitimate contenders for the first time in a long time. i am soooo ready for baseball season

Cubs.

Especially after they add Maddux later this week (wishful thinking?!)

I can't wait for Clemens to get in the batter's box. He'd better wear full body armor. Especially vs. the Mets.

The 'stros are tough, no doubt, but they need the killer B's to be better this year to bring down the mighty Cubbies - who've added the two missing ingredients to their club this off season - middle relief and first base. Derrek Lee aquisition is HUGE and LaTroy Hawkins is arguably the best middle reliever in the game.

bring on Spring Training! :D

Isn't Sosa a free agent this after this year? Expect a huge season from him if it is. Although, it could also be a huge distraction if contract talks get in the way. The Astro's have always sort of been on the fringe. I completly think with the new pitching staff that they can go all the way. Especially since the likes of the Braves and the Giants are no longer going to dominate the NL, they may have an easier time getting through. They could be due.

read this morning that maddux turned down the giants' offer so the cubs have the best shot at him from what i understand. i'd say IF they add maddux they're right there with the 'stros, which i don't wanna see found a good article talking about the best pitching staffs in baseball if anyone wants to check it out, interesting read. and you're absolutely right on the killer b's, they definitely need to step up (especially in the postseason). i hate to say its time to let biggio and bags go but they're getting up there and probably not worth the money they're making, with the exception of their leadership and experience. i'd wager if it doesn't happen for 'em this year we may see some retirements (if clemens re-retires). the NL central is definitely gonna be a fun division to watch this year whatever the case

and spectra, i think we're definitely due not sure on sosa, that could be interesting if so.
