http://www.flashinthecan.com/

First of all, it doesn't work with FireBird. The whore. I bet about 20% of all the designers who were going to visit the site were either on Mozilla or one of its children programs and they make me open another browser to visit their damn site.

Secondly. they're a bunch of industry professionals and they have to use the OS X scrollbar? Give me a break dumbasses.

And everything about that site has been done before and it's not very intuitive. It could have been done just as well in (X)HTML and/or CSS. Don't use flash unless you need it, whore. How can they claim to be professionals? Flash for flash's sake is stupid.

Grrrrrrrrrrr. I'm angry at that site.

...well they ARE promoting Flash. I don't think I would listen to somebody promoting Flash who didn't have a Flash-based web site. Now the whole thing probably didn't have to be done in Flash, but to say
Flash for flash's sake is stupid
when they are obviously not doing it just for Flash's sake is going too far.

I agree with mattboy, it's a site about flash, so it really should be in flash. It would be kind of hypocritical if it weren't. Kind of like a CSS learning site that was written with font tags and tables. But yeah, I don't like it either. Very unusable. Really slow too.

Personally i don't have any problems with the site at all, the OSX scroll bar is not exactly needed, but as for the rest of the site I think it serves it purpose.

What I meant was that it's pointless to design a regular site and then stick it in flash. Use flash to its potential.

Yeah but not sure if you can pick one site out then.
Because there are millions of sites now that are made by flash and 0.2 % really need that flash on those sites...
It's just a easy way for the people who don't want to learn html or php...

Actually, most of these flash sites use databases and PHP / XML too, I'm sure.

About the site, I know what you mean, tele. I had never seen it before, and won't go there again. I loath flashsites. Especially when it's not needed in any way. I don't think there's any point in using flash unless you're making an animation or a game.
But, as mattboy and deker mentioned, it'd be kindof weird if this site in particular wasn't made in flash. Although, yes, as you said, they should've made something that only flash can do. And I think that OS X scrollbar is kindof lame. Designers that can't come up with anything more original?

Oh, and the header animation is as annoying as a cactus up ones arse too. :D

i agree ... on both sides actually ..

it would be lame to not have any flash, but i can't really see what you mean by "doing what flash is ment to do" .. well, the menu cant be done in anything else but flash? I haven't read anything on the side so i don't know how much they brag about what they're capable of doing, BUT i don't really care either ^_^

These guys claim to be professionals and they just do what thousands of other people do. Make a website and stick it in flash just because they can, but it serves no purpose and turns off many visitors who don't want to switch browser or download the never ending updates for the Flash Player.

If you are going to use flash, do something cool and interesting like www.trollback.com or www.dunun.com with the percussion game. I am not flat out anti-flash, I am pro-flash when it is used to its potential and what it was made to do, not copping out and turning awat many visitors.
