Wifey decided paintball would be a good way for my son and I to spend more time together, get him off video games, and get some exercise. If she says so, I guess I'll go out and spend a bunch of money!!!

Anyone into paintball and got any input on equipment? I used to play a lot about 10 years ago... a lot has changed since then!

playing war....ah, what's better? :D

I've got no tips for you, other than, get semi-automatic weapons, and alot of "bullets"! And see to it that there's enough gas (or whatever it's called).

Oh, and bring a camera and post some nice action shots here. :p

You know how we Americans are. Make war, and then put a media spin on it, complete with politically correct terms. It's not a paint 'gun', it's a paint 'marker'! It's not 'shooting' someone, it's 'tagging' them. When shot, they're not 'dead', they're 'out'. And you don't 'invade and occupy' the other team's land, it's 'capture the flag'.

Greetings my friend, you are entering one of the most fund zapping past-times we have here... for me at least. A good marker will run you up several hundereds, and future mods (if you so choose to add) can easily land you a $1000 weapon.

Best bet is to just go out to a field sometime with your kid and try guns out, but I'll make a couple recommendations:

Everything you see there.

Do you not go to a paintball park, where you can hire the gear for a few hours and play paintball? That's what i do and it's pretty good value for money :D

The ones random suggested are great. If you don't want to spend $300, and want to keep it at about $150 a gun, check out the Spyder TL Plus. Great starting gun (that was my first gun - uber reliable), and maybe buy a replacement barrel if you don't much like the stock one.

Nos.

Spend the same amount of money on good bicycles—either road or mountain bikes—then join your local cycling club.

You'll be much better off for it in both the short and the long run.

Good word...I didn't think about that one. I listed stuff that you could play with in tournaments and stuff, so for something low key like just playing around the Spyder TL would work great.
