Amazing PC <--- Great oxymoron isn't it? :o :p

Actually, I just ordered my iBook. Since I am a peasant, I cannot afford a PowerBook, so I just souped up the 933mhz iBook instead.

640 megs ram
60 gig HD
Airport Extreme

I am pretty darn happy. I hope to use her for 2-3 years until I can afford a more "professional" machine, but until then, I have a sneaky suspicion this one will be more than fine.

I opted out of a G5 tower simply because I want to work from wherever. This should allow a lot more flexibility then I have now. Work will help with the software, so I am more then happy. I am also extremely lucky.

There's my bragging for the day.

Congratulation Spectra, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Good call on the extra RAM. My Powerbook is a lot faster with 768 than it was with 256. 128 would just be too slow with OSX.

good stuff. be sure to keep us updated on how it does, i'm thinking about a laptop sometime in the next few months and the ibook is one i'm considering. a pc notebook is also a possibility, we'll see what the price/performance ratios look like in late spring

Good for you. However, we should seriously stop with all the Apple/Mac threads, it's turning into a Mac board (the Misc. forum at least).

Oh, and we DO have a specific computers forum...

Anyways, enough of my wining... enjoy your iBook.

No one is forcing you to read the Mac threads MJ, and this is actually a very Windows oriented board, or has been in the past anyway. Every other design oriented forum I visit is made up of a whole lot more Mac users than there are here.

Besides, I seem to remember you recently starting an Apple related thread yourself, so what's up with that?

After taxes, we are looking at $2500 Canadian. I couldn't weasel a student discount. That woulda saved me a bundle.

Spectra...
Have you been working with OS X, and specifically Panther?

It's just bloody amazing. You practically have to throw it off an interstate overpass to get the system to crash.

I'm setting up my home Airport network tomorrow (finally got all the stuff in through FedEx). YAY! Macs all over! Come sit in my driveway! Access the net at 3 Megabits/sec!
