To the people who have their own "company" that offer web design and what not to people, what type of paypal account do you have? Do you have the personal (which can't receive credit card payments, and has no fees on receiving credit card or any type of payments)? Premier/Merchant (can recieve credit cards payments, has fees for any type of payment?

I've had to upgrade to the Premier account when a client only could pay with a credit card and the fees are outrageous. I was wondering what you guys do.

I normally choose the adult route and after invoicing them, expect them to pay in either cheque or cash.;)

Word.

It's good to pursue things (like payment for services) in tangible form, like Hermit said.

Eeeyeah. One reason you may want to stay away from paypal, until yere more established is the fees. With 'analog' payment, the only fees are postage, and whatever yer bank charges you for making a deposit (which is nothing).

So what.

If they want your product, they'll pay for it. The only 'hassle' is that they have to get up from their desk for 10 minutes. This seems to be a problem with webdesigners. There seems to be an unwillingness to actually do anything away from their computers, such as pencilling out a design, or something like that.

Another option would be to use Miva Merchant or sign up for an iBill account. That way you can accept credit and debit cards. There is still a nominal fee involved, but it's well worth it for the convenience, IMO. With iBill, you can even setup monthly recurring charges that will automatically debit your clients credit cards acoount.
