Somehow my measly little AA operated MP3 player doesn't seem so bad now. I love Apple, but if there is any truth to this, screw the iPod. $439 base price and then $250 + shipping to have them look at it and replace the battery. pffft

Then again, this could all be false and/or the occurance is extremely rare.

it's true.

*waves his anti-apple flag*

but to be quite honest, there are many companies that do manufacture reserve batteries for the iPod.

EDIT: This does make apple look a bit less übersupernerdyfriendlyandtheydoeverythingbetterandcool. :p

If that is true I'd be very disappointed in apple. And, I hope everybody spreads the word...

Apple offers a battery replacement plan to get a new battery for $99. Or you can buy the extended warranty for $59. Or you can buy a third party replacement battery for $50 or less.

The "brothers" themselves changed their tune after they made the movie, admitting that apple's replacement policy is completely fair. However they still leave up this video to give Apple a bad name for some reason...

Alpha, no, the iPod uses an internal rechargeable battery. It doesn't run on AA's...

There are some external battery packs though, that keep the ipod running by powering it through the dock connector. Or it could just lengthen the charge of the unit...
