Hey guys, just thought I'd jump in cuz I use PayPal all the time.

trhaynes, the reason your account reads $0.00 is probably becauses you aren't verified yet. What that means is you have to put a credit card on file or a bank account. PayPal normally starts you out on some cash, but once this happens and you are no longer verified, it will ask you to do so.

It may also depend on what type of account you have with them. For instance I have a business account with them and I can accept money from credit cards. Normally when you have a basic account, you can only accept instant payments. So check your account status and check if your verified. This is a tactic PayPal uses to get you in and use it more.

About purchasing from PayPal stores. You can start by going to PayPal and checking out their PayPal shops to find online merchants that are legit and have been verified with PayPal. So it's not so shady.

I hear the PayPal debit card is pretty good but I have yet to apply for one. I don't know why, but I'm sure it's cool. But I just get my money transferred to my checking account for free. But they can send you check for about a dollar's fee. So if you dont' have a bank account hooked up, the card may be the best bet.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!;)

I'm not really expecting to use it that much, though. I just got about $30 over it and I want to spend it - can't it? I'm a minor so I don't have a bank account and my parents don't really want to hook up their credit card (security issues, blah, blah, blah) for only $30. So no - I'm not verified. Does that mean I can't buy anything?

I didnt really mean shady - more of tacky. Like there would be nice if there was an amazon.com that thousands of people used everyday and that had lots of staff, etc. Most of them are little one-page sites that have about 100 things for sale and made their websites with Frontpage. One "good one" (in my terms) that I found was www.halfpricecomputerbooks.com - I might get some PHP/MySQL books from them. :D I couldn't find any comprehensive CD stores, though. They all sold like "20 different country albums!" or "the complete collection of Garth Brooks!". Again, something comprehensive, complete, and reasonably priced, like amazon.com, would be nice. But now Im just whining.

Thanks.

trhaynes,

You should be able to spend those thirty dollars you have there in your account. And I fully understand what you mean about the stores. It would be nice if places like Amazon took PayPal. More legitimate comanies with a high reputation.

Cheers!
