Please... For Christ's sake, stop making a million threads just because you don't feel like using your brain. Let's review your past four threads: "Following Pank's Way to Photoshop" "Rules of Designer's Life" "Picking a Name" "Computer Suggestions" When I want to spoon feed someone I'll adopt a baby. This is getting rediculous. Like Supah said in the other thread (hey! that ryhmes!): you won't get good at stuff by watching other people do it. SHOW US WORK. Then we will critique it and help you improve. Just make 1 thread called "Sharif's Questions" or something and consolidate... |

The "take off your pants" part is what inspired this tangential digression. |

It has EVERYTHING to do with male anatomy. Don't doubt the ways of telemakhos and myself (Your Gods); just go with the flow. (scrotums make good mousegrips) |

Perspective, colour, harmony, balance, unity, etc, etc... Learn these things. Then learn how to brainstorm. Next, learn how to sketch (no matter how rough). Now learn to use a computer. |

Try to curb the hostility a bit. Everyone starts out not knowing diddly. When I first started playing with web development, I thought it was just a bunch of pretty pictures and words. I had no concept of being creative. I didn't know what made a site cool. I had no idea about functionality or user-friendlieness. I had to learn all of these things. But they weren't taught to me. I got some tips and pointers along the way. I took some design classes where I learned about creative but user-friendly navigation. I developed my own opinions about what I considered cool. Point is, that everyone starts out as a 'n00bie'. The way to help people become better is to nurture their curiousity about it. As much as you may know, you still don't know everything. Suggestion to Sharif. Pick up a few books on 'design' but don't use them as a bible. Gain as much knowledge as you physically can about typography, color theory and page layout. Some of my most favorite websites are laid out like magazines with simple intuitive navigation and chock full of reading material. But then again, I hate flash. Practice makes perfect. It's not enough to read and learn as much as you can. You have to apply the things you learn. Make mistakes to learn from. If you can't use what you have learned, you really haven't learned it. But most of all, don't give up. It's fun when you create something and you show it off to people and they can only say 'wow'. |

...Yeah but most people also actually try and figure some things out for themselves...He has started threads for what computer he should buy all the way through how is was going to make the website and what he was going to name it. Sorry if I seem hostile, but I get a little fed up with people who don't help themselves. I keep telling him to make something which we can critique but he just keeps making these threads. |

He's a noob. Plain and simple. There are some very creative people on this forum right now, who started out asking what I thought to be very stupid and very annoying questions. I'll do some browsing back into the older stuff and copy/paste some of them for you. |
