that it's cool and not pointless. I've tried to do this but I don't really know what to say. How would you tell someone that this isn't talentless. How would you explain to them what art means? basically a guy doens't get art, so what would a person say to them to change their mind? |

some people simply don't have an appreciation for the creative arts, i've found its rarely something you can do anything about. generally they don't like to be pushed/stimulated intellectually, i've found that extremely intelligent people (tho not all) tend to appreciate art more than your everyday types. chris |

yea but you gotta admit those people who run into walls and call the blood splatter 'fine art' are pretty lame. "it's the embodiment of my inner child clinging to stucco" -artist  then you got the guy who steps on paint tubes. "this symbolizes society's inability to cope with relationships and godzilla" -artist  |

what about the people who are very analytical and smart? They don't seem to like it either. That's what the guy I'm talking about is.

Just because your analytical and smart doesnt mean that you can understand art. Most if not all art comes from inside the creater/artist... some peices were ment to only mean something to the artist and not for others to understand. Others were ment for everyone, even the dumb people, to understand. It all depends on not weither or not your smart, but weither or not your creative and can see many sides of the same picture. People that think art is pointless... simply choose not to do that. And they are intitled to their own opinion, just like everyone else. |

Hmmm, why try to "purrsuade" that person at all ? I mean you can have a discussion 'bout it, but what's the piont in "forcing" someone to think art is nice/good/appreciative. I think you should let him be. I mean if my friend doesn't appriciate liver, I don't forcefeed him ;) Let him hate art, we get more to ourselfs, hehe |
