still- i certainly hope adobe will be realesing the new photoshop for pc asap, esepcially since they are supposedly turning away form the mac a little bit (no more premiere for mac, because of the strong competition by apple's final cut pro). what i am trying to say here: apple loves to promote their stuff (for a good reason, as i might add), and just because the new creative suit is optimized for the g5 it doesn't mean that it will be released for the pc significantly later.

let us not argue, let us celebrate this very moment. after all it is a new photoshop version. :D

Good point. Too bad, huh? I've used InDesign a few times, and I like it a lot.

*RANT WARNING*

Quark gives me nothing but headaches, so it's easy for me to like the new guy on the market. I like Quark's application, ancient as it may seem - I hate their marketing strategy, and I think they're possibly the biggest egomaniac software company (that's a bold statement, but look how long they crapped on Apple & Apple users - their target market! - by not releasing a OSX compliant version). Furthermore, I really hate the way Quark handled the release of their newest version - which - mark my words - will do LOUSY on the shelves. Nobody wants to buy that pile of crap for $900 so it can write itself to a single CPU. So, want my advice? No? OK, I'll give it to you anyway... LEARN INDESIGN. The myth that no print shops support it is simply not true. Print shops are obviously more comfortable with QXD's, but if your local printer is like mine, they'll do anything for a buck - including accept InDesign files.

*END RANT*

agreed. i can't stand quark, and indesign is becoming more popular. the only reason quark even still exists imo is because of the huge user base they established when they were the only option. any decent print shop should be able to take indesign files, if they can't just let them know you'll be finding someone else who will :D

*High fives graphicsguy* I actually got excited that you replied to that. :D

Quark Xpress has the worlds worst customer service! Period.

I studied Quark in school and enjoyed it a lot. It did everything I needed, was for the most part hassle free, and was an obvious industry standard...Then Indesign 2.0 came out. Well my friends, I simply can't spend enough time trying to convert everyone over to it. It's simply a fantastic program. To me, Indesign vs Quark is waaaay more of an issue then Mac vs PC. I don't feel I could go back to Quark at all. In fact, I fired it up the other day and was totally lost.

If you are doing any sort of desktop publishing, LEARN INDESIGN. In time, printers will catch up to its technology (You can bring in PSD files with transparencies, NO MORE CLIPPING PATHS). It's simply the best.

The new Photoshop should have an easier gradient tool. The gradient should be editable, so you don't have to keep dragging until you get the exact one you want. You just drag once, then edit the points. You could even select the gradient path and then choose radial or reflection. I'm not sure exactly how it works but its one of the many things that would make Photoshop better.

will post more when I think of them

Create eye-catching typography by placing text on paths or within shapes. Edit the text at any time, even in Adobe Illustrator software

That feature has been in Illustrator for a while now i guess lol

From what you're saying, it sounds like Illustrator's mesh tool, only...different, somehow, I dunno yet.

And,

here's my favorite part
Intel® Pentium® III or 4 processor

Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 3 or Windows XP

192MB of RAM (256MB recommended)

280MB of available hard-disk space

Color monitor with 16-bit color or greater video card

1,024x768 or greater monitor resolution

CD-ROM drive

Internet or phone connection required for product activation
but anyway:\ I heard some reviews for it
they are calling it photosho 7.5 and I guess its not really worth that :( aside from it having neat features that work with digital cameras.
