I thought this was a good preview article. Worth a read. The new Photoshop looks pretty sweet. I personally like the 16 bit editing, the bigger artboard, and better RAW support for higher end digital cameras. Illustrator upgrades look sweet, too.

Upgrade pricing is surprisingly affordable, too. No idea about Windows pricing or availability. I'm sure that info is out there, though, for you PC folks.

thoughts?

Adobe also included some new features and enhancements for the Web professional. Many Web designers prefer to use Photoshop for their images, but Macromedia's Flash for different aspects of designing their Web sites. Photoshop CS users can now export directly to Flash with preserved vectors and dynamic text including embedded fonts. You can export each layer to its own Flash file, allowing each file to be opened in Flash as its own symbol, on its own layer.

hmm........ that is very nice indeed, wanna make me upgrade it, I already got flash but just don't have time to learn it yet.

This is PHAT

Photoshop CS movie

I'm also looking forward to this:

From adobe.com
Text on a path

Create eye-catching typography by placing text on paths or within shapes. Edit the text at any time, even in Adobe Illustrator software.
It seems simple enough, but you have NO IDEA how many times I've wanted to do that, and couldn't.

This is...Just...
Yes

From adobe.com
Customizable keyboard shortcuts

Customize, save, and print a summary of your ideal set of keyboard shortcuts, so the functions you use most are always at your fingertips.

I am an absolute hotkey MONSTER.
Like, I know them ALL.

And this...
Hell yes:

From adobe.com
Macromedia® Flash™ (SWF) file export

Use ImageReady CS to create SWF animations, complete with vector artwork and variable text.

Me and vectors get along very nicely.

I looked around a little bit, and I couldn't seem to find much talk of a PC version out just yet. The Mac version is apparently shipping already. They've got a thing on their homepage (apple.com)

I guess the big deal with this is the fact that it's 'optimized' for the G5. Does that mean it'll suck for the G4, or are they gonna have to put out some kind of patch for it, or maybe just another whole version altogether?

Idk, I'm sure it'll be sweet though.

Adobe's website says nothing about Adobe Photoshop CS being Mac only, that I saw at least.

Um, re-read what I said. I didn't say ANYTHING about macs v. pc's.
I just made the observation that I did not yet see a pc version that was shipping yet.

I'm sure if there is not one yet, there soon will be.

Note also that all of the screenshots available thus far were taken from a mac. It is possible, that the Adobe Creative Studio label may be mac only, just because it is quite simply a boxed set of upgrades. THis is of course not to say that they will not release Adobe Creative Studio for windows, but it is possible, that rather than withold upgrades for PC until all cross platforming of the programs is complete, they may simply release the new versions one at a time, meaning that while mac may have Adobe CS, pc may have Photoshop 8.0 for a short while, until all programs are optimized for the other OS.

It's not rocket science, it's simple marketing.

The G5 is, whether you like it or not, a hot selling item. I'm sure, in an effort to be cutting edge, and have their name associated with whatever is cutting edge in the industry, Adobe chose to attach their name to the G5 first, and I'm sure that a pc version is soon to follow.

So quit your whining.

X-fusion, no one said anything about mac vs. pc. Just because someone says "Mac" and "PC" in the same post does not mean it's trying to start some huge war.
