I feel that pain GG, I'm using a Pentium II 350 MHz computer to this day at home...simply cannot afford a new one. (bought 5 years and 3 days ago (Sept 9, 1998)). I'd likely trade my left testicle for a G5, but I don't think anyone would probably agree to that trade.

PUH-lease... 10 years... no way!!! 4 or 5 years, sure, it could still be could for that time period. But it will be outdated far sooner than 10 years.

4-5 years is no problem. I have 2 boxes that old here. Ones a pentium 3 - 500 and the other a pentium 3 - 600. The pentium 500 is an old dell put to 24/7 hard use from a scripting buddy of mine at the securities commision, and it still runs fine.

10 years from now 32 bit will be a thing of the past, and 64 bit will be on its way out. So no way pc or mac, is that thing going to be around that long. Granted the hardware is probably decent.

I am sure that G5 is sweet though.... but you should have waited and bought a dual one....

Me, I am going to wait for the AMD 64 bit to come out and maybe once I start working (if the wifey lets me) hmmmm.....

The dual G5 isn't shipping yet, and there's no way I could come up with that kind of patience! I may end up with one of those at my office someday - wait 'til you see pics from my Canon EOS 10D - I bought with the difference in price - makes me quite happy with the 1.8 G5!

-mattboy, good luck with that trade, man. I'm not sure, but I'd take an Apple Loan first, dude - they only charge you an arm and a leg, for some reason they leave Testicles alone...

mattboy, for like $200 you could get a new mobo, CPU, and RAM and greatly increase the speed of your comp. do some saving man, it'd be very worth it...

hah 10 years... nope, you name a 10 year old mac that is still useful, or any other computer for that matter. and being able to be turned on is not useful.
