Welll when i ordered my desktop i went through www.unitedmicro.com they used to have some really good prices, but im havent been there in a while.

Another good place is http://www.buyxg.com/ they dont build it for you so you just have to buy everything and assemble it your self, but its pretty cheap

1. gateway sucks. Even Dell is better. If you want my reasons on why Gateway sucks, email or IM me.
2. Voodoo is too expensive

I suggest

http://www.tantuscomputers.com/index_flash.php
http://www.monarchcomputer.com/
http://www.falcon-nw.com (first ever online custom PC maker)
http://www.dell.com (even though recently Dell computers have been suffering in both service and quality of assembly. The company now sells almost everything else electronic, and they're focusing less on PC's)

You should also check out Pank's thread on this in the Computers forum, same place where this should have been ;) .

Ok, personally, I'm a mac guy, but that notwithstanding, why does every company that makes really powerful PC's market them as gaming systems?

They ALL do it!

alienwares, voodoo, falcon, so on. Why can't they say, this is a powerful system, for whatever you need the power for be it making graphics, or just running them. I mean, who's gonna spend $2000+ on a glorified X-Box? I mean, BUY the freakin' X-Box, for craps sake!

And I know when they say that they're powerful gaming systems, which I understand carries the connotation of good graphics capabilities, why don't they just say THAT?!

That's why macs became a sleeper graphics favorite, because they just said, and continue to say, we make good computers, for whatever you need a good computer for

then, note: They are also great for graphics, but hey, that's up to you

GAH!

*Sniff, single tear*

I've just been hurt so many times...

Ok, stop crying mac boy and admit that macs suck. :D j/k

You necessarily need to get a gaming machine to be sure that it will be good for graphics. As long as it has enough RAM, and fast CPU and a somewhat decent graphics card.. you're good. A larger HDD is also a plus.
