Yah, but I imagine it does count from the difference of 16 to 30... I dunno... Just thought I'd throw it in there lol.

Oh and I just like to point out to cybling, that where I live, I can't take busses or trains. I live in a really small town. In fact, I live 15 minutes away from the really small town.

Yeah it's earlier, learning stuff and having it stick to you is optimal during pre- and during puberty. So roughly middle school (for Americans) to high school would be a great time for learning vital abilities...

The deal should be that 16 year olds should be allowed to drive after passing a few mental integrity tests in addition to the standard driving exams. I fail to see how 2 years will make a difference in maturity since that depends on the person and their immediate environment, and either at 16, 18 or 40, they all lack experience if it's their first time.

as i said.. and thats pure logic.. i was just pointing out that running a red light has nothing to do with that but that was kindda off topic since i was talking about that law here in DK..

but anyway yeah... but i dunno.. i think its hard to take test on everyone to see if theyre old and mature enough.. people could just lie and then go out beein mofos in traffic ^_^

It's interesting how most of the young people think you should drive at 16 and the older people think that you shouldn't...

Indeed decker, but I never said I thought 16 should drive (then again I didn't say they shouldn't either...). In a sense I'd rather not have a bunch of idiots around my age driving around, in another I can see that it is a necessity, at least where I live. I'd love to be able to bike to work, or take the bus...but it simply isn't worth that effort. It takes me a half hour driving on the freeway as is to get to work (btw I live in San Diego, at least for the next few weeks, then I'm a t college in Pamona...) so biking is simply out of the question, unless I wanted to wake up a few hours earlier (I wake up at 6am as is) and be all nice and sweaty when I come to work. The bus ain't an option 'cause I'd have ot take at least 3 stops, so if I wanted to get to work remotely on time I'd have to wake up a couple hours earlier, and ride my bike to the nearest bus stop anyhow... But yeah... I really don't like driving, but a couple years ago it was pointed out to me that, at least where I live, it's a necessity to drive if you want a job, and I'd rather not be taking my first steps as a driver much later than now, even though I really don't particularly enjoy driving. I know we can't test everyone for maturity, and even if we could, people would slip through the cracks, no matter what we do, we'll still have idiots on the road who don't have sense enough to not drink before hand or really have all the other distractions that people give themselves while driving (I just hate it when I see people trying to talk on cell phones or do something else while they're driving and more often than not at least almost run off the road...)
Anyways, good fun :p

It doesn't really matter to me, due to budget concerns I'd still be using a little plastic card that gets me into the NYC subway system daily until I'm 24.

That's another thing that you europeans don't understand about america... our public transportation system is basically non-existant, at least outside of new york and a couple of other large cities. Our cities are spread out over a really long distance with no subways, trains, and few buses. Taxis are extremely expensensive, and bus routes are very limited. Basically if you don't have your own car in america, you don't get anywhere.

I've been living in the US for quiet sometimes and the public transportion is mostly terrible, first of all, you might get robbed at the bus stop and second they come like once 2 hours :( But I live in a small-medium sized city so just an opinion.

That's bull what some of you are saying... From what I hear from some of you, people shouldn't drive until 25 or 30... If that happened, the percentage of poor people would increase, no one could drive to college until they were older... The economy would drop due to 16 and 17 year olds not being able to work and therefore buying less... Retiring would have to be pushed back 5-8 years, because if you started working at 25, then it takes awhile before you get the job you're gonna keep awhile, and you have less work time, meaning it takes longer before you can retire... It's bad enough that you only have money when you're old, then you'd only have money when you're REALLY old...

And it's impossible, read, IMPOSSIBLE to get a bus or taxi where I live...
