Have you heard anything about this???

The news here in Sweden is reporting that in the United States illegal immigrants were recruited to fight in the war with Iraq in exchange for American citizenship. They have reportedly spoken with wives of soldiers that were killed for the proof that they were not citizens. Would an illegal alien really step forward and say… “Hey, I am an illegal alien” Wouldn’t an illegal alien just think it was a trick, and that they would be arrested and deported? Anyone heard this?

In the movie Gangs of New York, which I saw a couple of weeks ago, they forced the Irish immigrants to immediately enlist in the army in turn for citizenship. And you know movies are always historically acurate.

How do you go about recruiting them? Unless, they have been caught as an illegal immigrant. According to the reports they make it sound like they were trying to use only non-American soldiers to fight for the United States, so US soldiers didn't get killed. Sounds very fishy to me.

In the movie they just stood at the bottom of the plank from the boat, gave them a gun, and a uniform, and some ammunition, then had them sign a form joining the army, then a citizenship form. Then they turned around and got on another boat, and went off to war. So I imagine it was something like that.

So were the American casualties not really Americans?

Well in the civil war, just about everyone died, so I'm sure americans and irishmen died equally.

Btw: I am not fond of any government, they all seem fishy to me. The US government is notorious for being "fishy" to say the least!
