I'm actually with HostRadius, which has just merged with InsiderHosting. I have 45 domains hosted on HostRadius, which will be moved to InsiderHosting sometime this week. They own their own machines and have 24/7 access to them, unlike a lot of companies that just have them at a datacenter. (DreamHost and MT have their own). They are also upgrading their machines to Xeons soon instead of Celerons. They seem pretty good and I trust the judgement of the owner of HostRadius, who has decided to merge with them.

I've used DreamHost for about 4 or 5 years now. Haven't had any trouble with them other than they only have email support, which can be slow at times.

Yes Insider has the standard cPanel interface for all of your sites: http://cpaneldemo.insiderhosting.com/

If you are really that worried about stability or whatever, go with MediaTemple. I've just never personally been able to justify the cost because I think they are way overpriced. And the reason so many design sites like this one and k10k and just about every other major design site love them so much is because they get hosting for free. Which is a pretty good idea for media temple to do, because then all the web designers that frequent their sites like to use MediaTemple. But especially if you are going to have multiple domains, they are really expensive. Hosting 45 domains on DreamHost or MediaTemple would be ridiculously expensive.

yea i see what your saying deker, leaning more towards insiderhosting. ill only need 1 domain, so im looking at the v1000 package. what do they mean in their packages when they say reseller? i really like mediatemple but i dont believe i will see much difference between them and insiderhosting because my site will be relatively small with little to no database or complicated coding. also, 100 mb isnt really a whole lot of space is it? i think media temple is sorta like sony...people get sucked into it by the style, hype, and name. although sony manufactures the "prettiest" tv's, thet aren't always the best. ya know? so what do you think about the v1000 package?

btw...i removed the bevel on those tabs on the mr money site and it made a HUGE difference. thanks a lot for the suggestion. it looks much more professional and smooth looking now. what was i thinking with the freaking bevel?? lol...

I have 2 gigs of storage space on my plan, and only use 500 of it, even with 45 domains. I have 40 gigs of bandwidth and have used less than 1 so far this month. I have mostly small sites on it obviously, but even with 45 domains, I still use 1/40th of my available resources.

You definitely pay more for the branding on MediaTemple, just like you pay more for Green Giant peas than peas in the ugly can, even though they were probably grown in the same place.

But if you only have 1 site 100megs would be more than enough. Most of my sites fit on a floppy disk... For instance my entire portfolio site is less than 500k, which is smaller than the splash page of many sites.

I don't think MediaTemple does this, but Dreamhost limits the amount of queries you can have to your MySQL database. Which is pretty annoying. Other hosts I know will limit the amount of databases you can have. Whereas everything on Insider is unlimited and is just applied to your total storage and bandwidth.

The reseller plans are more expensive, but have unlimited domains, so you can resell as many sites as you want as long as you don't go over the storage/bandwidth limit. That's the only real difference.

Also with Insider you can have your own DNS servers, so all my clients sites point to ns1.soktdesign.com instead of Insiderhosting. This way they don't know that I'm reselling, or who I am hosting with, so they can't undercut me and go straight to the source. Dreamhost doesn't allow that. (not sure about MediaTemple)

cool...i wont have very many clients, if any at all, so they reseller option is pointless for me. i will only have one domain, so its looks like one of the v plans is the way to go. well thanks a lot deker, i really appreciate your help :D btw, how is your portfolio site only 500k? do you have only websites in it or digital art also? i will have a majority of digital art and only a few websites. thats the only area im concerned with my space.

No I just have little thumbnails of sites and no digital art. www.soktdesign.com (needs to be updated, most of the site links are broken or old) You'll be fine with 100 megs if it's just going to be for your portfolio site I think. Unless you have a lot of really big digital art pieces.

Yeah it should be no problem to upgrade at any time.

Thanks, glad you like it. The band site is a little more than 500k I think . but it turned out pretty well. I just need to finish it and actually market the thing...
