What are some high quality hosts out there that wont put a huge hole in my wallet? Obviously, I'm aware of mediatemple, but thats a bit pricey for me. I only need 125 MB or so and 10-20 GB/Mo. Bandwidth. What are some good options? Thanks!

Resources forum. www.dreamhost.com - good but expensive www.hostradius.com - good, cheap, but merged with www.insiderhosting.com www.insiderhosting.com - haven't been switched to their servers yet but they have pretty good pricing plans it looks like. |

Haven't heard anything about those personally... I'd go with insiderhosting... Cheap. Unlimited domains...

narrowed to insiderhosting or media temple (just thinking on whether or not i wanna drop the extra $5 month on media temple. what do you think? my philosophy is you get what you pay for and media temple is the best, right? i could get the basic package for $180 one-time-one-year. just unsure if 100 mb is enough...

I'd go with insider. Media Temple is ridiculously over priced in my opinion. You get unlimited domains, much more bandwidth, etc.

It also comes down to what you need for a database. If you want stability, think of this site (with a fairly large databse for the forum.) and how stable it is. I put someone on a cheaper host, with all the extra bells and whistles, but the forum ran like a piece of sh*t. So they dropped them in about a month. If you just want to host a site, maybe a little bit of databse stuff. Then cheaper is better. Wont be able to tell much of a difference. imo.

Yeah mediatemple is too expensive especially for me (i'm still a student) Plus one more thing, it seems to be the latest trend to link to Media Temple on a page's splash page or even main page. What's up with that? |

deker...ya your right, only 100 mb and a 10 gig/month for $15 is really steep. Ive searched for reviews of insiderhosting and havent found too many. can you gimme some sites of people you know who are hosted by them? i looked into dreamhost and read some recently bad reviews about them. their plans seem the best but a few reviews at webhostingtalk scared me. does insiderhosting have a easy-to-use interface like mediatemple? (displays emails accounds, stats, space, number of hits, etc.) i was just considering media temple because im told its the best and i can afford it. thanks deker!

They have a pretty sweet referral program. Check out their site. It basically is you refer someone, they stay for 2 months +, you get 1 months worth of their hosting. So if you refer 1 person @ 14.95 per month, in 2 months you have 14.95 extra. |
