I got a pda for grad present, a sony CLIE peg sj22, apparently i'm able to pick up an audio adapter and listen to mp3s. my question is do u think the quality would be just like any other standalone mp3 player? Also...anyone know any conversion software that would be recommended, b/c the Kinoma producer which was recommended only has like 2 day trial offer. and as it is the sound isn't even understandable...it's all just ...well u can't make out anything. which is why i figured the audio adapter would make a difference...but checking here first...the ever popular techs at compusa had nothing to say other than the fact that they recommend purchasing a regular mp3 player instead of draining my battery...but for my purposes the pda is ideal...i think

Is the battery rechargable? I bought my gf one for Xmas and wouldn't touch one without a battery that cant be charged. If it is, then putting MP3's on isnt a bad idea. However, If you have lots of text files and of course a few games :P you may find yourself buying tons of memory for it and then end up realizing a MP3 player would be more practical. Also, ask if the hot syncing slows down if it was loaded with Mp3's. I'm not an expert on these things, these were just some initial concerns that popped into my head.

I've got a Compaq Ipaq and the audio quality hooked up to a powered speaker system or even a decent set of headphones is awesome. Of course, I can only put about seven or eight 192kbps mp3s on it, so it sucks as an mp3 player. If you really want the mp3-part, I'd just suggest a real mp3 player from the simple standpoint of storage capability.

There is MAYBE a $20 difference. I'd just shoot for the 128 if that's all the higher you want to go. I think the SanDisk memory sticks are about 1/2 of what the Sony ones are.

Just curious what you guys use your PDA's for? I was given one about 2 years ago and besides being a nifty address book and the occasional arcade game, I havent ever used it much. Now I think it is too old for any music or much. Some people say they couldnt live without one and I couldn't quite understand why.... just curious.

I always think I want one, until I actually try to think of what I would do with it. I can never think of anything. I don't have hundreds of friends... Just a few that I can memorize their numbers or store them in my cellphone. Not many business contacts... Don't have a busy schedule. Just go to work and back. And I have a GBA SP for games. So pfft.

yeah, until my pda can run PS and play games over the internet, I dont see much use in them. I would rather save up for a nice thin notebook....
