Yeah, they should really make a server version of choice mail. that would be great. i guess you could just setup your mail to come to a desktop machine, then automatically be forwarded to a web-based address, so you could get it anywhere. but that would be a pain i think.

I know you are. I know exactly diddly about Linux servers, which I assume most people run anyways, but I have to ask to make sure.

I just found this: www.mailblocks.com it's basically like that ChoiceMail thing that Pank posted, only web-based. And only $9.95 for 3 years. And web-based, so it works from work, home, librarys, school, PDA's, picnics, carnivals, cafe's, restaurants, zoos, etc.

I do not work for MailBlocks.

I just signed up for MailBlocks.com... Nice interface and very fast loading.

Couple of down-sides... It doesn't put the number of new messages out to the side of the folders like hotmail and others do.

Inbox (45)
Friends (21)
Family (36)

So you don't really know when you have new mail without clicking on each folder.

There is no ability to automatically sort messages into folders.

For instance, you can't tell all emails from joe@joe.com to go into folder "Joe".

And the biggest problem... I set my current email address to forward to user@mailblocks.com, which works great. But when I try to reply to the person that wrote me at my old address, I can't set the Reply-To field to my old address. So when I reply, and then the person that wrote me replies, they will be sending it to user@mailblocks.com instead of my old email address. That kind of defeats the purpose of being able to forward your old email addresses there in my opinion.

If they fix that problem and add some more "fancy" features, it will be a pretty nice system.

But they just launched it so I expect it to not be as feature-rich as hotmail or yahoo mail right off the bat.

Hopefully they will listen to customers and fix some of those problems though.

Hey Dek can that program forward your good mail to a POP account like Outlook? Or do you have to go to the webpage to view your mail?

You can use Outlook or whatever. You just set it up as an IMAP account.

I just got an email back from the developers, they said they will be adding all the features I requested (above) in the 1.1 release, which will be in July. Hooray! It'll really be the perfect email solution then. Nice.
