Spam Assassin is installed on most linux servers running CPanel. Though it doesn't delete it, it just puts

*****SPAM***** or something at the beginning of the subject of a mail that it identifies as spam. Then you can set a filter in your email program to delete anything with that in the subject. But that doesn't stop it before it ever gets to your computer...

I've honesty tried about every one out there. And the ONLY reason I'm running the ad banner for them is because I am using it. Since I've been using it I have not recieved a single spam email. It really does work. And best of all it's not based on silly permissions, rules.

The thing I hated about all the others was it was like checking your mail twice. Once to make sure you Spam rules didn't block a good email, and once checking your real email. So far I'd swear by this one.

link with my affiliate id

straight link/no id

If you get a chance any of you I'd seriously try this one for free. It's the only one I liked and decided to buy...

Oh, and I really was getting like 40-50 spams a day :(

Another thing to do (also use spam filter) it to prevent spam search robots from geting your e-mail adresse from your site...

try this
http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/unspam.shtml

It replace you usasul e-mail link woth a script, wich is not read by thos search bots... so they dont opick up your adress so you get less spam...

Another way to hide you e-mail is...

pank, have you noticed a drop in legitimate email because people don't want to take the time to register to send you email?

I guess one cool thing about it is that if you have a form to fill out on your site for contact instead of just a mailto link, you could put a code in the subject to always allow those senders. so as long as someone filled out the form on your site, they would not be bothered with the registration process.

looks like a pretty handy program. $40 for no more spam doesn't sound bad. when i get a mac I will have spam again though! unless something similar exists on the mac.

Actually I'd say not really. If somebody needs to contact me and they don't want to verify it's a real email then I guess it was not very important ;)

Not to mention you can add anybody you wish (by email address or entire domain) to a list that does not get screened. Also anybody you send an email to automatically goes on that list so they don't have to bother either. Also it's a one deal shot for somebody new. If I approve somebody they are approved forever... Given the amount of Spam I was getting I had no choice.

The next domain I get the first thing I am going to do is delete my catch all account. Then make up a secret email and use that only. Then the only people who will know the address are the people I want to know. For general emails I'll make them use a mail form page script.

i check my mail on various locations/platforms (home, work, pda, webmail) so i am looking for a server-based solution rather than desktop-based. it looks like choicemail sits on your desktop. i think it is a really good idea though.

so far, spam assassin has tagged all of the spams as ***SPAM*** and my email program (pocomail) automatically moves them to the junk mail folder.

i hate the internet.
