Does Opera not read the Valign table column tag? In the meantime, I'll keep searching Google. |

By the way, here's a nice little experience I had with IE a minute ago. I went to a web site in IE 6, and was greeted with literally 13 pop-up ads. After I was done with the site and had closed all the pop-up ads and the children of the pop-up ads that come up when you close a pop-up ad, I found 6 desktop shortcuts on my desktop linking to various porn sites, news sites, and other sites. There were links in my start menu to web sites that I didn't want to visit. There was a new program installed and running in my system tray, without my knowledge or permission. When I uninstalled that program, it popped up two more windows, asking if I uninstalled the program by mistake. And a nice little comment form asking why I was uninstalling the program. So I un-politely told them to **** off and burn in hell. So hey, then I went to the same site in Opera, and had zero pop-ups. Zero programs installed on my computer that I did not know about. Zero links on my desktop or start menu. I got to the site, got what I needed, and left. Nice. Microsoft is going to destroy the internet. I can't imagine a new computer user trying to use the internet with IE. And since it is pre-installed, they don't even know that there are other, MUCH better choices out there. IE doesn't even support PNG yet. The standard for PNG has been finished for like 6 years. Every other browser supports PNG fully. Including mozilla, netscape, opera, safari, camino, and all the other browsers. IE also doesn't support adjacent sibling selectors in CSS. Here is more info about what that means: "Missing siblings Adjacent sibling selectors are a powerful tool of CSS2, enabling designers to create rules-based layouts in which elements are controlled according to their contexts. For instance, you can make a general rule where images have no margin at the top; then make another rule that says margins have 15px of white space at the top if they are preceded by an h3 header. Or you can use adjacent sibling selectors to control paragraph indentation and margination, as we do in My Glamorous Life. Adjacent sibling selectors let you do with one or two global rules what might otherwise require dozens of bandwidth gobbling classes on every element of every page. Most CSS-compliant browsers support adjacent sibling selectors, but IE6/Windows does not. We hope that changes soon. Until it does, many designers will not even think about using adjacent sibling selectors to control their layouts – and that means that many web pages will be heavier and less semantic than they could be." -- from www.zeldman.com In short, IE is a big steaming pile of ****. It is the least innovative and least secure browser on the planet. |

He's trying to get that graphic to stay in the center of the page. And opera automatically puts it at the top.

So mattboy, just use the tip that you found on that site. Both examples work in opera 7.03. I ran into a similar problem on a site i'm doing, but it wasn't important enough to me for it to be centered, so i just left it at the top in opera. www.thenarrowwayministry.com |
