Time travel IS possible, but with limits. Theoretically, it would be possible to open a wormhole that would warp space-time, but it would have to be linked to another at the far end. Thus nobody from the future can visit us today, until we're able to open a stable wormhole at our end. To truly begin to understand the plausibility of time travel, you need a fair understanding of relativity, specifically space-time. Until then, its a lot easier for people to comprehend classical mechanics and its understanding of time as a universal and constant flowing entity.

only thing is that you are only able to time travel back to the point of the time machine being made. cant go back before it was made, or you would be creating energy which isnt possible. so unless the time machine is made right now he couldnt come back to this point.

I have a response to the guy saying there needs to be 2 wormholes... Suppose he is from the future. In the article he said he came from over 200 years in the future, meaning their tecnolagy is [hopefully] advanced. Could it not be advanced enough that they (the future people) have figured out a sofistacated way of timetravel with out 2 wormholes?

No its not the smakind of wormhole... The type of wormhole for time travel creta a link betwen two time period in the same dimension... While the one in sliders connect two dimensions, it could also lead to another time in another dimension... Also, the wormhole in Sliders as no door, and you need only one devices. But the theorie about time travel required two... one at both end... I would like to compared it the Stargate (the movies and the series) where the ring act as a transportation devices... Its also another kind of wormhole... But Quantum physics are still unclear |

[/B][/QUOTE] I guess, it's also possible that the entire universe as we know it is just one huge jar for the amusement of some infant giant... Modern physics (which could be wrong, and certainly is to some degree, always will be) rules the possibility of time travelers coming through without us building a gateway (ie wormhole) here first (or machine as redeye states it, choice of words really). Also, if time travel from the future WERE possible, we would clearly see a lot more than 1 rogue traveler trying to hit it rich coming through. And again, as redeye said, such a thing would bring more energy into the present day frame, which according to the law of conservation of energy (which is vital to everything we understand about the universe) cannot happen. |
