I only own Wrox Press' Professional PHP Programming--although probably not for beginners, maybe intermediate, though.

http://www.php.net has a book lists if that interests you.

I picked up Sams 24 hour one and wouldnt recommend it, unless you know another language.

lol I have the same book...SAMs teach U'r self PHP/Apache?Mysql in 24hrs...it was also a mistake for me to purchase...I learned more on searching the web or reading other scripts than that Damn book!...lol sorry but its true...BTW dont use the software it brings, your better off with the Traid or Fox server!

phpfreaks is almost unusable in opera. :( You can't even read the text or anything.
