Iron Angel : Speedpainting Challenge

To mods: I jumped the gun and made a thread in the open challenge arena. Hope that's ok with everyone.

Challenge close date: 3/32/3005
Topic: Make an illustrative image based on the words "Iron Angel".

Try to Adhere to a more painterly style, over a graphical drawing. This excercise is informed by gesture drawings and thumbnail sketches.

Try to get the most information onto the canvas as possible, and consider the image as an overall composition. Thus, try to employ a diverse pallette over making this a strictly b & w image.

Wish i could work more of a "angel theme" into it. My idea was that the missle can fly into the heavens / protect the planet.......that kinda thing. Maybe i'll do that for a second image.

As i mentioned in the other thread, i have never drawn or painted anything. I'm TERRIBLE.. i just did this to help with its activity, because i think this "arena" idea is a good one.

Decided to go a diff route with the theme.

My first Image

One Hour. Sorta an angel becoming iron, or some kinda metal, I guess.

I think I wanna finish this one up f'real.

I was thinking of doing a second one, but I decided to just continue fleshing out the first one.

Um, I think I've spent another hour and half on it.

My paintings suck if there's no outline (yet) so I had to do a quick inking. The painting was only half an hour though. I hope that qualifies it as "speedpainting."
