just to help you a little
save your text as a button. (f8)
double click it to get the up/over/down/hit stage
click on the over state and insert a new key frame.
now click on your graphic and make it into a movi clip (f8)
double click to bring up the layers on your movie clip.
now you are set just make the animation and it will work

If you'd like to do rolloff you will need to put the button inside a movie clip and give it the action "Rolloff - play" and then put an animation afterwards.

This used to puzzle me as well until I read the manual via F1! When you're at the manual, just search for rollover, or buttons - and when you learn the steps of making a button, just follow it the same way for text. Hope this helps.
