Hi Guys,

I've just joined up so I'm in posting this in the correct section?

Just a favour - I have a really old pic of my dad from 1948 - we would just like some help getting rid of the creases and tears, and making it a little lighter. If anyone could help it wold be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!! : )

Hey, this is a fairly straightforward and common task for photoshop users. You'll find plenty of help online searching for tutorials... just google photo retouch or similar.

To get you started: you're best friend in fixing up old photographs will be the Stamp tool. Other programs call it the 'Clone' tool. Look for the rubber stamp icon. (or just hotkey S)

Alt-click an area you would like to start in... then just start painting normally. Just play around with it but make sure you save the file as something different so you don't mess up you're original.

You'll want to experiment with different brushes (although 90% of the time I'll use a basic soft brush)... but also play around with Opacity (top menu bar).

Example: now that you've played around with the Stamp Tool, goto your photo... find a small tear or smudge you wanna get rid of. Move the cursor to an area near the tear, Alt-Click that spot, not move the cursor over to the tear and start brushing. Voila!!!

good luck

Hi all, I'm new to the forum

Here is my attempt:

and for a side by side comparison of the original, spicy sleen and mine, click below:

Spicy Sleen did a great job, so well done Spicy, but I think mine is better. :p Maybe I will improve the shorts if the original poster would actually post back.

Clint why did you copy and paste my reply?

What a waste of time that was, spent over an hour helping the poster and he can't even be bothered to answer back. Never again!
