Sick of only flash being considered "cool"

I think these two should satisfy us lovers of static art for a while.

I have made a resolution with myself. For everysite that someone posts and says is cool because it is "flashy", I will post two sites that are mainly static art to accompany it.

I enjoy static.

I like both of those things. Nice typography and so forth. "Cool"

but what's static art?
and topography?

i thought topography were types of maps...but i notice they are used on the web frequently.

typography - commonly refered to as 'typo' is font choice. basically, good 'typography' means the artist is talented at picking fonts that fit with the rest of his art.

static - means it isnt moving.

Topography is the study of maps. But I said Typography. And it's more than the study of which font to use... It's also how to space those fonts, with leading, kerning, etc. And when to use the appropriate font where, etc. It's very interesting, actually.

so static is just basically html and some css?
no fancy dhtml flying around the screen, or flash , bells and whistles..
