I redesigned the IMDb website as a part of the version2 redesign contest.

Here's my entry: http://gendes.elivy.com/stuff/imdb/index.php
Here's the voting page: http://9rules.com/version2/may/

If you like my entry better than the others, vote for that. If not, vote for someone else's. And I urge everone to take part in next month's contest.

Great job! Yours is one of my favorites. I'll have to look over them some more before I actually vote. Yours left a lot of the content in place though, which is good. Some of the others just made it look like a blog, which isn't very realistic. The only thing I would change on yours is to remove the blurb at the top about redesigning in xhtml and css. No one will know or care what that or accessibility is, so that would just confuse them. I would move that to the bottom of the page as a site news feature or something, not displayed so prominently. Good job though!

Image preloading? They're all optimized .gifs ... that should be enough. Plus if you have a slow connection or don't want to view images, the site is just as accessible without CSS.

well Id say yours is one of the better ones on that site, although I think their current one is still better than all of them.

There’s some others that I kind of like because they’re a little different than what the site already looks like…But I like yours because it seems better at making the site look different and more updated yet it doesn’t seem like a totally different company.

I really don't like using JS - the rollovers are 100% CSS. It really shouldn't matter anyways; what browser are you using?

I haven't looked at trhayne's code, but most css rollovers "pre-load" automatically. preloading with javascript is kind of a silly way to do it anyway.
