This is a project I am currently working on, and just wanted to get some feed back from folks.

thanks much =)

Layout 2v2

the site itself is just a mock up at this stage. the final will be better sliced / optimized.

Wow...

It looks...retro, somehow, but like...Still good.

I like the colors, but you might want to narrow down the size of the 'header' portion, and maybe center the marquis-logo box, or move it somewhere. Idk exactly where, though. It just doesn't look quite...balanced.

Consult some feng shui specialists, if you need to.

And, welcome to the forum. And, for future reference, you don't have to be quite so formal with you thread titling. Something like, 'hey stupids, look at my site, dammit!' should suffice.

First...you'll never be able to save a decent gradient out of PS (if your concernd about file size that is lol) so off the bat you might wanna ditch the blue "ovals" on each side.

Second...about the ovals....they lead your eyes away from the content..instead of "to it".

3rd...text (if meant to be readable) should never be compressed as a jpeg. Also u could easily save that blue grid as a 50x50(just guessing) gif and set it as the background of the table...so you could type your text over it. And another thing about the text...a whole lot of body text like that should not be a san-serif font. San-serif works for short headlines....but for lots of text it causes eye strain (the serifs lead your eyes to the next letter..less strain)

4th...you need to learn a bit more about compression. The site is very blurry. It would look better with crisp clean graphics. Use gifs. U have a lot of straigh lines and angles...so gifs would work way better. Also with those metallic lines...there arent much colors...so you could get away with setting the colors of a gif to 16 or 32.

Thanks for the input folks =)

rodder thanks for the suggestions. I am not happy with the background as it currently stands, so I think I am just gonna drop the abstract shapes and figure somthing else out.

Text: Will be coded correctly in the real version, I just was being lazy and hadn't coded up my content boxes yet, so filled in with jpg text. Will work on the font situation, thanks for that tip.

I am working on filling in the "hole" to the right so the whole interface should feel more balenced, since right now the entire thing feels a bit off.

thanks again for your thoughts

definatly, should be another draft ready in a couple hours. I am playing with css stuff right now trying to make the columns liquid... so I got a bit distracted from the layout itself.

Quiet, hobo. He already said that it was just a mockup and that it wasn't optomized, or sliced, or anything.

As for the site, I don't dig it. Probably because I can't see any aesthetic reason for anything to be anywhere. The whole site looks like a crop circle to me.

I won't go so far as to say that it's tutorial-y, because it seems like it was made off a tutorial but was experimented on or deviated from very greatly.

Also, everything is a blur.. it gives it a messy appearance imo. The gaussian blurred spiky shape in the background detracts from the appearance.

The final reason why I don't like it is because of the same reason that lazyroll had. Simplicity is key. Less is more. Etc. Keep it simple and clean - that's key to good webdesign.
